Dance Teaching Experience

2017: Virginia Governor’s School for Humanities and Visual and Performing Arts Radford, VA. Director, dance department; Faculty: modern dance technique, composition, improvisation

2017: Virginia Tech School of Music Blacksburg, VA. Guest Lecturer in MUS 2054 (Introduction to Composition). Topic: Dance Composition for Music Majors

2016: American College Dance Festival Association – North Central Conference Stevens Point, WI.  Dance Faculty: Contact Improvisation

2014: Faculty, Virginia Governor's School, Radford VA.  Taught improvisation workshops to high-school aged dance students.  Created improv score that was performed by student dancers in the finalshowcase. 

2014-present: Instructor/Mentor, Trillium Performance Youth (TPY), Lewisburg WV.  Currently teaching contemporary dance technique to students in Trillium's teen dance company.  Position includes choreography for TPY's 2014 touring showcase. 

2014-present: Creative Dance instructor at LoCo Arts, Newport VA.  Currently planning and implementing after school arts programming for elementary-aged children.

Fall 2013: Guest instructor in Virginia Tech's School of Performing Arts.  Teaching module includes modern dance technique, composition and improvisation.  

2013-present: Dance instructor at the Center of Dance, Blacksburg VA.  Current position teaching ballet, jazz and modern dance to adults and children aged 7-17 years old.  Position includes choreography for end-of-year recital.

Summer 2013: Modern dance instructor at Roanoke Ballet Theatre, Roanoke VA.  Taught mixed-level modern dance classes to teens and adults. 

2013: Substitute instructor at Velocity Dance Center, Seattle WA.  taught modern dance to adults.

March 2012-Feb 2013: Instructor at All That Dance, a performing arts studio in Wedgwood, Seattle.  Classes include pre-ballet, creative movement, tap and modern. Taught children and young adults aged 3-16. 

August 2011-Feb 2013: Dance specialist at Issaquah Montessori School.  Planned and implemented creative dance curriculum for children aged 3-6.

2007-2008: Guest teacher with Prime Movers, UNC-Greensboro's student dance organization.  

Other Teaching Experience

2014: Yoga instructor with Blacksburg Yoga Collective.

June 2012: Received infant/toddler teaching credential from Montessori Education Institute of the Pacific Northwest. Certified to supervise and implement developmentally appropriate daily activities for children from birth-3 years old.

October 2009-Present: Montessori toddler teacher.
